Gardiner, MT is just ahead. It's a bit of a tourist trap, there are a lot out outfitters selling services, mostly raft tours. Also many restaurants and tourist related business line both sides of the street.

The North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is just outside of Gardiner. It's quite spectacular. See, that's the kind of entrance I'd build, one out of stone and mortar. So I guess such entrances are acceptable in Montana, assuming you're a national park of course.

At the gate the campground vacancy status-board (sorry, it's blurry) says the only campground open is the first one, Mammoth Hot Springs. It's going on 6pm and I'm really pushing my luck. If I can't get a campsite I'll have to exit the park because they don't allow car-camping outside of designated pay areas.

FYI you cannot molest animals in the park. Rats! There go my plans to molest a grizzly bear. So how does one molest an animal? That has me wondering what type of visitor would have to take the warning to heart? Hmmmm, sounds a bit twisted to me. But you know what they say... "what goes on in the park stays in the park". Guess the sign is trying to sidetrack that mentality.
