Carlsbad, New Mexico

Here lies Iceberg Rock. This 200,000 ton bolder broke away from the cave's ceiling eons ago. Which begs the question, if a boulder breaks free from a cavern's ceiling and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Green Lake Room. This cavity proves to be quite large, and is highly ornamented with soda straw formations; thin, hallow stalactites formed by dripping water. There's also a bit of green splashed in for interesting effect.

Way back in the early days of exploration and tourism, before nice footpaths were put into place, traversal of the caverns was accomplished via wooden stairs. Here's a remnant of that past time, located high above the paved footpath.

Here are some close-ups of the cave's calcite formations. I think they look like moss in texture.

Here's the Boneyard formation. Named after the bone-like structures (vertebra?) Mother Nature has created over the eons.
