Carlsbad, New Mexico

Okay, ladies and gentlemen, drum-roll please! And now for the crown jewel, the best picture of my tour. I tell ya, when you take as many pictures as I do, you're bound to get a good one now and then. I just love this photo. Imagine, if you will, that all my photos are at -least- as good as this one, that's what it's like to visit the cave and see it with your own two eyes. So, if you ever find youself in southeastern New Mexico, you gotta haul your butt here and see it for yourself.

Moving on, this formation has a red hue to it, evidence of iron within the structure?

Here's one that looks like a breast. Who would have thought, way down here, that such a thing was possible. You know, I'm just really glad the stalagmites don't look like... ummmm... well, you know what I mean. I'm just sayin' I'm real grateful, that's all.

VIDEO: Here's yet another panoramic video (3.3 MB). Yup, yet another lousy panoramic video. They're all starting to look the same to me.

Another Big Room sign. It tells me I've only traversed two tenths of a mile of the Big Room, I have a whopping one mile to go! The scale of this place is just incredible.

Here in the first shot, my initial thought when I snapped the photo was that of an altar. The second shot shows some formations hanging high overhead. Boy, I'd hate to be standing below that stalactite cluster if any one of them had a mind to come loose and fall.

VIDEO: Here's a great video (2.3 MB) of the stalactite cluster. They are simply massive.
