Here's the first pool I encounter. The pool was created solely by the dripping water that enters the cavern from above. In the middle of it I discover this majestic formation that has grown over time into a grand pillar.

The pool is named Devils Spring, as described by this placard.

The climate with the cave is cool (56 degrees) and humid (greater than 90% humidity).

The Park Service has done a nice job of lighting the formations to allow for full-effect.

Whales Mouth formation. Looks like a whales mouth, eh? It also reminds me of a mouth on a Halloween pumpkin, a scary mouth at that.
