Nestled in the middle of Maine's Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain is a little more than 1,500 feet tall and more than 3 miles away from my campsite. I'm getting a late start but it's a relatively short, easy hike so I should get back well before nightfall.
The beginning of Cadillac Mountain South Ridge Trail is just outside the campground so I backtrack my way out of the campground on foot.
The fall foliage is all around me as I make my way to the trailhead.
