Acadia National Park
Central Maine Coast

Some of the rocks have colorful lichens growing on them.

As I hike along I encounter this strange, fuzzy plant. It looks like an air plant but it's growing out of the ground.

Now this is strange. Look at the parallel and perpendicular striations in the exposed rock. Was this the work of a glacier or was it volcanic in origin? Maybe it was just God having some fun, creating a tic-tac-toe board for all of us to scratch our heads and wonder about?

At this point the trail is getting a little monotonous. I think some viewpoints would be in order, I've been climbing for a while now and have yet to hit any lofty, visual pay-dirt.

More glacial droppings.

Allrightythen, trail marker. Seems to me if I hike to Eagle Crag I will get a view. Makes sense, eagles like crags which are in high places with views, right? And it's only 0.1 miles away. Let's check it out.
