Acadia National Park
Central Maine Coast

After taking leave of them, I notice to the north a parking lot and folks gathering on the northern edge of the mountain peak. A road runs to the top of Cadillac Mountain for people who don't want to or can't hike up to the mountain peak.

I make my way to the parking lot and on the way I run into the Visitors Center.

After passing through the parking lot I enter the viewpoint area. The last photo is of a dedication to Stephen T. Mather, the first director of the National Park Service. He passionately defended the scenic reputation of the existing parks by channeling this enthusiasm for preserves outside the West into the emerging state parks movement.

The overlook provides a good vantage point to the myriad of small islands in the area, all having a name, as indicated by these placards. Unfortunately, the detail is too small to see from my photos.

I make my way down the path to the viewpoint area.
