Near the top I pull over to take some pictures.

I desperately need to get a splash picture (the opening picture you see when you go the my website's home page) of a scene from the Adirondacks for my website. However, time is rapidly running out, this will be my last day in Adirondack State Park. But all too frequently it's difficult to capture a worthwhile splash picture because of my biggest obstacle, having to haul around a 3-ton prop, the van, to take the picture. I try the shot from a few angles but I'm not at all satisfied.

From my parked position I can see the top of the mountain. The top is home to a weather station as well as a shelter house.

Whiteface Castle sits at the end of the paved road. From there tourists can either walk up a stone stairway or take an elevator to the top of the mountain.
