This is interesting, here's a diagram that attempts to show the process of generating an environment on the Moon that's suitable for human habitation, given only the Sun and the available resources found on the lunar surface.


It looks pretty nutty to me. So where's the swinging boot and the bowling ball that travels down the spiraling chute? Too bad, the illustrated process is flawed, I believe they've left out those two important elements.

What's this? Now that's a good idea. They've replicated the composition of lunar soil and are trying to grow stuff in it. It looks like it's growing pretty well.

The next exhibit is the actual trainer used by the astronauts to train for the Skylab missions. The Skylab program was established to learn more about the effects of living in space for long periods of time. Additionally, many experiments were conducted to further advance knowledge in both science and medicine.
