Upstate New York

After turning around I start to backtrack my route but soon pass by this out-of-business establishment. I'm surprised I missed it on the way out. It seems McDonalds used to be in the bait business. Perhaps before they discovered that hawking burgers and fries was a better gig? Interestingly enough, it looks like they were still figuring out the golden arches. Looking atop the building I see something that is best described as a gray arch. A single arch made of plumbing pipe. I wonder if their bait menu had such items as the McWorms Sandwich, Fish Egg McMuffin, or maybe Hot Baked Minnows.

The ride back proves to be a big grind. My fuel gauge is on a quarter of a tank when I start my backtrack with over 30 miles left on the ticker. I pass back through Tupper Lake and make my way to Saranac Lake. I start to cramp up a little so I have to take it easy up the hills. But I have to keep pressing on because the sun is growing low in the sky and the daylight won't be with me for much longer.

A parting shot of the colors.

As the sun is setting I make my way into Saranac Lake. The moon is out already, revealing its sunlit face for all to see.
