Upstate New York

Little Whiteface Peak is the only run served by a gondola, all other lifts are open-air chairs. As a result, during the off-season, you can only go as high as 3,676 feet. The gondola serves both the tourists who want to ride up to see the view as well as crazed mountain bikers like myself who need a helping hand to the top of the ski trails.

My biking adventure posted here will just cover the scenic highlights. Click here for a more thorough write-up of this fun biking event as covered in the biking section of the website.

The ski resort's base lodge.

I'm given the opportunity to don elbow and knee pads, compliments of the ski resort's bike center. I take advantage of the opportunity which in the end turns out to be a very smart thing to do.

There's no lift line so my turn in the gondola arrives jiffy quick.

The ride takes me up a total of 2,476 feet, topping out at an elevation of 3,676 feet atop Little Whiteface Peak.
