Upstate New York

Me and Lake Placid, we're tight, we go way back. I don't know about you, but I'm getting pretty tired of seeing my big fat head in my pictures, it's always blocking the view.

Here's a gander at the High Peaks Region. Mount Marcy is out there somewhere, the tallest peak in New York State, and the mountain I successfully hiked 4 days prior.

From left to right, top to bottom, we have 1) Algonquin Mt, 2) Mt Colden, 3) Mt VanHovenburh, 4) Mt Marcy, 5) Haystack Mt, 6) Basin Mt, 7) Saddleback Mt, 8) Gothics Mt, 9) Nippletop Mt, 10) Dix Mt, 11) Giant Mt, 12) Hurricane Mt.

There's a good view of the mountain's ski resort. In the first picture you can see the gondola base station just to the right of the large ski lodge. The second picture is the top of the gondola and over to the far right you'll see the wide observation deck which provides an unobstructed view of Lake Placid.

Conclusion

Eventually all good things must come to an end. After spending 7 wonderful days in the Adirondacks, the time for me to push on eastward to Acadia National Park has arrived. My stay was an active, scenic, and relaxing experience. This will mark my third visit to the Adirondacks and by far the best. I rate my tour of the Adirondacks an overwhelmingly solid 4.5 thumbs-up out of a possible 5 thumbs.
