Upstate New York

As I make my way into the park I pass by a variety of lakes. Lakes, ponds and other bodies of water are abundant here in the Bark Eaters... er... Adirondacks.

The colors are starting to pick up. Earlier in the day, while driving through Western New York, I noticed the colors were pretty lame. But as I drive east and slowly gain elevation, the trees become more and more advanced in their preparations for winter hybernation.

Smokey the Bear says the fire danger is low today. Why is he forced to wearing pants? Bears don't wear pants. Surely is a formula for revenge. Think about it. When he grows tired if wearing them, to get even, he starts messing with the fire indicator, adjusting it to say "LOW" when the fire danger is really "HIGH!" Hmmm. Maybe he's already hatched his revenge. Well, let's not go there, the fire danger is "LOW" today... or is it?

As the evening approaches I settle into Cranberry Lake Campgrounds. The sunset over the lake is a pretty one. Tomorrow I'll drive into the heart of the Adirondacks then partake in a long bike ride in and around the Saranac Lake - Tupper Lake Area.
