GRACELAND
HOME  OF  ELVIS

Memphis, Tennessee

Now, here's something I didn't know, Elvis was very charitable. Here's what the King once said about charity, "It's like throwing a stone into a pond, it ripples out." During the course of his lifetime, Elvis' charitable giving operated on two fronts, a public front, and a private front. Most interesting to me was his private front, where frequently he'd quietly give to pay hospital bills, buy homes and cars for the needy, and paid off the debts of family, friends, and even total strangers. Elvis never forgot his poor Mississippi roots. I must admit, a balance has just been tipped, this glimpse into Elvis the man has really touched my heart, and I must say that I am now a true fan of Elvis. I really would have liked to have met him.

After ending his movie career, it was time for Elvis to return back to the stage. In 1968, he took the world by storm and proved that he still had the right stuff. His television special was a huge hit, Elvis was back and the world loved him.

Elvis' live performances continued with a string of sold out shows in Las Vegas. It was there "Elvis, That's The Way It Is" was filmed, a famous documentary filming his performances during his tenure in Las Vegas in 1970. Elvis goes on to break attendance records in Las Vegas, Houston, and New York. Clearly, Elvis was here to stay.
