Memphis, Tennessee

Before this ground was turned into a cemetery, it was Elvis' place of contemplation and meditation. Currently, it features a circular 12-foot fountain pool containing one large water jet encircled by 5 smaller ones that are all lit by multi-colored lights. The curving wall in front of the grave markers is made of Mexican brick and holds 4 stained-glass windows.

This marker greets me as I make my way to the gravesites.

The cemetery's design is interesting, it has a stadium look and feel to it. In the busy season there must be swarms of people here, hence, the need to elevate those folks stuck at the rear of the viewing area.

Here are the 4 gravesites. From left to right we have:

  • Minnie Mae Presley, June 17, 1890 - May 8, 1980
  • Elvis Aaron Presley, January 8, 1935 - August 16, 1977
  • Vernon Elvis Presley, April 10, 1916 - June 26, 1979
  • Gladys Love Smith Presley, April 25, 1912 - August 14, 1958

Wow! There are loads of tributes here, no doubt, all contributed by Elvis fans.
