Memphis, Tennessee

My self-guided tour leads me up a different staircase that takes me to the Jungle Room. Yes, you're eyes aren't fooling you, that's green shag carpeting on the walls and ceiling.

Here's the Jungle Room. Actually, it's considered the mansion's den, but the shag green carpeting and Hawaiian-theme furniture gave the room its nickname. The furniture was purchased by Elvis on a whim. While driving by a furniture store one day, he had a revelation. Buy everything that looks Hawaiian and put it in the den. Within half an hour he had made his selection, and the rest is history.

The audio tour leads me to the back of the house to a gallery where they've assembled a collection of special Elvis items.
