Tailgating is never a good thing. Worse case scenario, you could rear-end the vehicle if you're following too close. Best case scenario, you're inconvenienced until the individual you're following either makes a turn, speeds up, you pass them, or they give you the finger and you realize you're being a pest, so you back off.
While fixing my mountain bike in a Walmart parking lot in Glasgow, Kentucky, I notice this horse and buggy. The driver, who I think is a Quaker, is just passing through the lot, probably on his way to some place of antiquity. Behind his buggy I see an impatient car. The driver, having just purchased some goodies from Walmart, probably wants to get home ASAP so they can bust out their new gotten gains.
I suspect the buggy driver isn't going to speed up anytime soon, nor is he going to lift a middle finger in retaliation. He's just going to plod along, nothing is going to change his slow, but steady, cadence. Not modern society, and certainly not some impatient car driver who's following too close. I like that, marching to your own drum beat. I think too many folks get caught up in marching to drum beats other than their own; work, society, religion. It's times like this that make me wonder, am I marching to my own drum beat? Are you?
